  • Hmmm...I don't know if I necessarily agree with you. I like what you are saying, but until gay people have full and equal rights everywhere in the country, I don't think we can afford to just let it be. And Obama is not going to fix everything. He and his vice president have made it very clear that they are not in favor of equal rights for gay people. So I think there is still a whole lot of work to do that can't afford for people not to keep fighting.

  • I think you're right about us not being there...YET but I guess I'm just hoping for a day when gay is a non-issue for the majority of the population. I agree that Obama isn't going to fix everything, let's face it, he can't but he HAS given us hope about a better day.

  • I couldn't agree with you more! Thank you!

  • i hope that Mr Obama will bring about much needed change in the US. but i think he should be very careful not to get rid of one prejudice only to replace it with another !!

We this side of the pond will reserve judgement for now and wait and see (he cant be by any means as bad as Bush (or blair for that matter!))

    Great video Scot

    Love Moppy

  • Here in Europe we have mostly gotten over the "oh look hes gay!" issue and here in the UK we have civil union with all the "rights" that go along with it - to a certain extent!

We dont know a lot about Obama but what we do know makes us very cautious about him - heres a guy that gets elected to the highest office and makes a major point that now a Coloured Afro American can be president - and then says - hes going to remove dont ask dont tell and still wont endorse Civil Unions ????

  • I totally agree. We aren't there yet, but I hope that someday this won't be a big deal for us, our families, society, etc. But it will be a while yet, and there is still much work to be done. Observe the uphill battle (and not just in CA) of marriage equality. Strip out the emotion and essentially these are votes of non-acceptance. Its coming for us, and we've come a long way, but its not over yet. Thanks for posting. Your vids are always good.
