Hey, jlw! Nice set of how-to videos. Gave me some good ideas to start my layout.
I had a question (having just acquired the Amtrak Heritage P42s myself) do you do any break-in on your locomotives? I've read in the mags and heard from other modelers that they go through some break-in process with their locos on a bench and run the motor for several hours to work in the gears and what-not. Possibly helps the sound problems you have with these units.

Any P40/42 that Athearn has produced, never had a sticker on the back for a radiator fan. It has always been a etched metal screen that you can see through it. To let you know.

Hey do you know how much the 4 HO Scale Amtrak GE P42DC Genesis 40th Anniversary locomotives cost at the train stores? I would sure as heck love to buy 1 or even 2 of the special edition Amtrak 40th Anniversay GE P42DC HO Scale locomotives.lol

@andersonjjj333 To all who can't find them, you won't find them in a store. The units are only available from Amtrak at their official store amtrak40th website.

Does the fan on top of it actually work or is it used for display purposes?
Is the Phase 3 "P40" unit any different from the P42's? I can't decide between Phase 3 and Phase 1.

@prorobo nothing is different other than the paint scheme

There are actually 6 Amtrak heritage units. 156, 66, 145, 822, 184, and 406.

@jlwii2000 why did you not get the passanger cars

@Jjgould21 I didn't really care for the passenger cars, plus I have 10 superliners for the P42's to pull.
