Media states "Stealth" jets as invisible to radar. But even plain air is visible, so making something "invisible" would be like a black object in the visual spectrum. It absorbs all the light hitting it, so how can we see it? We see it because it absorbs it instead of matching the refection of the background. RAM is also compromised by stuff like moisture as it alters the reflection/absorption rate and quite frankly wears the RAM (aka carbonyl iron + binder) off.

While "Stealth" elements like RCS reduction DO prevent detection (depend on type), RAM does not. RAM is intended ONLY against mm band radars as from BASIC PHYSICS RAM has to be 1/2 the wavelength its supposed to absorb. Absorbing it completely creates an anomaly in the natural EM background, too little increases the changes of being locked. The ideal goal is to MATCH to the EM background, but that is physically unachievable. You can REDUCE the spike range by up to 500% though.

Never seen cell phone jammers or speed camera jammers? They dont shine anything anywhere, they just fill the frequency used by the phones and you cant call anyone or prevent the speed camera from reading your speed. RAM is the opposite but does the same thing, it also disrupts targeting but not by EM interference but by dissipating the signal. The purpose is the same as far as target acquisition goes. Russia abandoned RAM in favor of jammers in the 70s as RAM made SS flight impossible.

@Iskall91 That quote is from where? Your ass or wiki (same thing)?
"Stealth" is a misunderstood media term, military use the term "Low observability". You cannot avoid detection, that is physically impossible. You can complicate it or resist it to an extent though.
A jammer isnt a flashlight on a flashlight. A jammer puts strong EM interference that disrupts targeting by filling the channel with "snow". It doesnt hide the airplane in any way but it hinders target acquisition.

@Buuub08 I quote: "to AVOID DETECTION by employing a combination of features to interfere with radar as well as reduce visibility in the infrared, visual, audio, and radio frequency (RF) spectrum"
This is stealth. No more, No less.
I've never said the F-22 to be invulnerable. You make things up, and pretend you know better.
To make it easy for you to understand. A jammer is like a flashlight to counter a flashlight. Stealth is the opposite.
So you're the idiot here. Have a nice day.

To sum it up:
Stealth jets are supposed to be difficult to TARGET not to detect. Detection is generally the same as a normal jet (is affected by shape and size but not by RAM) appearing as a blob on the screen calling for a targeting radar to take over (this is where Stealth kicks in). Over the last 30 years there have been many methods developed specifically to engage Stealth targets. As we saw in the 90s, software changes to S-125 done my one man in 10min allow it to take on F-117.

Avoid radar detection, avoid IR detection? LOL You still dont get it, do you?
Yes the F-22 technically speaking IS more stealthy than the Su-35, it was supposed to be like that. However saying that the F-22 is invulnerable is utterly idiotic.
Your definition of Stealth is so false that i wont even bother commenting on that. It just shows how little (in fact NOTHING) you actually know about this.

There is no ability to fly over heat seekers, they will pop on it the difference being only at what distance. IR reduction measures mostly include an airfoil that creates a vortex behind it thus dissipating the heat trail, and engines with lower heat emissions. Nothing unique to the F-22 but like 40 year old ideas.
-
@Iskall91 It doesnt matter how old the comment is IMO.
According to leaked Pentagon data - the F-22 is incapable of communication or data exchange, which is why it is packed with high performance avionics. RAM does NOT work against detection. It ONLY disrupts targeting (mm-band) radars. By basic physics RAM has to be 1/2 the wavelength its supposed to absorb. You cant cover a jet with 10feet of RAM, can you?
Jammer works just fine, surely can be countered like anything else but works.
-
@Buuub08 Indeed, RAM does increase heat, BUT it does not do so in any significant way, nor does it cover the entire fuselage of the F-22. It's not enough to hamper the F-22's ability to fly over an area with heat seekers, seeing as the engineers has taken steps to decrease it's IR signature.
Definition of stealth in this case: Ability to avoid radar detection and IR detection. Seeing as the F-22 has RAM, and a reduced IR sig, I'd say the F-22 is far more stealthy than the Su-35.
and if i have a miror
