Hello Marilyn & viewers of this video, I have a request and as this moving story appears to be a good place to reach the people I'm looking for, I hope it's okay that I post here.
I'm an actor & theatre practitioner in London, currently working on a verbatim project on the AMERICAN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM and needing willing participants to share their views & experiences. Please click my Channel for more info. I'm looking forward to hearing from you, Marilyn, or any page visitor. Thanks.
Stay strong. Maybe your story will help change the system. My dad had two types of cancer ( lymphoma and melanoma) and was on so many different drugs, and had a number of treatments.... Your voice is being heard!!
hang in there, you appear to be a strong willed lady. 1 have 10 years experience with the medical system. was back today for an mri on my wife. last week dr. chu charged $2012.00 for a 10 minute doctor visit, plus the 30.00 copay. the medical center of bowling green, ky will turn you over to collections in a heartbeat. scam after scam, the journey continues.
$10,000 for a chair? What's next, $20,000 for the recovery room cot? Maybe I'll start renting out my sofa...
My minor health care nightmare involved $500 for an ER visit where a doctor basically pasted a bandage on my finger. Now, granted, I probably shouldn't have gone to the ER, but the cut was getting painful and infected and I was worried. Now I'd know better.
Obviously, that's nothing compared to what you've gone thru. Be strong, keep the faith! I sure hope you never paid the 10K, btw!!
Marilyn, CONGRATULATIONS on 13 years of survivorship! As a two-year survivor, I agree with you about "not getting sick" and otherwise avoiding what cancer patients have to go through. I hope you make another video response about what you have been through so maybe things will change in the future.
I worked at a "self pay" department that had to call on these accounts, I felt HORRIBLE to have to call KNOWING that people had just gotten home from the hospital with cancer or other major illnesses. I was sent there through an employment agency. Had I known what it was I would not have gone there in the first place. I am sorry you have had to go through this, good luck!

wow $10,000 for using a chair...hopefully now this can be made more public so they'll "realize" that is a gross clerical error
