http://live.pirillo.com - A community member at large wonders what my opinion is on "E-charity", such as seti@home. Do I think they are a passing fancy? No... I don't. I feel this is the wave of the computing future.

  • @neyway wow i was about to write that before i looked down but "PIZZA!!!!!!!!"

  • lol pizza

  • even when your computer is stting idle

it takes quite a bit of electricity

and when you run folding@home, it takes even more power

so if you want to use lotts of electricity- sure

but if you have a high end gamming computer

    your probably rich

you could also run folding on your gpu

  • your exampe of video encoding

the way that would work would be send raw footage to other computers to cruch?

which currently would probably take forever to transfer

the better way it seems is to use excess gpu cycles to compute stuff

  • When the PS3 is idle I use it to F@H for team HardwareCanucksForum ( 54196) GO CANADA :) looking for a team.please join all welcome.

  • petaflops are 1000gigaflops and i have a high end gaming computer, however i usually leave it on over night to download, so could i let them use my CPU when im not?

  • 5 computers running the folding@home software. If you want to help these projects, try installing them on computers of light users like moms pc.
