God Loveth His Children Pt1: LDS Pamphlet on Homosexuality

A new pamphlet about homosexuality appeared on the LDS church's website in late July, 2007. The pamphlet is entitled God Loveth His Children, and, among other things, says that the Church does not know what causes same-sex attractions but does not believe sexual abuse and sexual
experimentation in childhood are responsible. It declares that same-sex attractions are not considered sinful but affirms that acting on those attractions is incompatible with God's plan for families in the afterlife.

If homosexuality, which has no basis in the quality of persuasion a person may have or the service he or she may provide God, then it seems the reasons for considering such attraction as a condition, as wrong, are wholly distorted.

@usaaok1000 Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed not because of homosexuality, but because of they lack of hospitality that was shown. Considering the hate and discrimination the LDS church experienced in the past, it would be much more logical that its members would be a lot more understanding and compassionate towards others and not refer to them as mentally ill.

At 12:12..."Dan says that I should announce that he is an avowed heterosexual." Don't you think his brother dies a little inside when he hears this? Sure, most of the guys in the room chuckle at the attemted humor, but what he really wants to make very clear is that he is NOT a homo even though he's related to one. That's the attitude shared by most straight men and the damaging effect that it has on those who are gay is a glaring reality that a thoughtful pamphlet can't fix.

@EwanSF Homosexuality is a mental disorder. God made Man and Woman for the purpose of creating more people and for companionship. Homosexuality does not allow that because you cannot reproduce with the same sex. I find it ironic that u peoiple curse us and get mad when some of us curse u back. Its like u can insult us but we cannot insult u. I know that homnosexuality is a sin because Heavenly Father says it is when he destroyed sodom and gommorrah. I'll be praying 4 u.

Some men are made angels inthis life( like through castration, just as they castrated baritones in the past so that they didn' t lose their voice) and others are born angels. Good news is gays people WILL NOT burn in hell ,so unless you kill or deny the Holy Ghost, u won't be punished nor damned.

The LDS has no stance on homosexuality....being "worthy" is the only "calling" that excuse your emotional/physical stance of being worthy of the authority of the church.......bullshit???

It is a sin to be LDS. Why? Because whatsoever is not of faith is sin. Mormonism, Josephs Myth, et al, is a false religion, therefore, from a biblical standpoint at least, it is sin to believe false doctrine.. In the USA you have the constitutional right to be LDS, but that is off topic.
