Due to popular demand, Part 2 of "How not to cut down a Rotten Tree":
A rotting tree was leaning badly against some other trees and we decided we better cut it down before it came down on its own. This is clearly not the way to solve the "rotten tree leaning into another tree" problem. But it worked. If anyone knows what we should have done please comment. Don't forget to watch part 1.

  • @smartmonkey777 I sure would, like trees which are like that, some differant to the normal tree drop

  • Nice chainsaw carving been done there, i would have just got a winch and pulled it down, a "sitter" is a dangerous tree, best to get it down as quicky as possible before it turns into a widow maker lol

  • OMG, 1.55. If a decent kickback would occurred, you'd no more had hands... neither of them.

  • you should rename this vid to.. how to move a tree 3 meter sideways lol

  • Tough call when it's already leaning on others, but it looks like all worked out OK. Good deal there were at least 2 guys there at all times. A thumbs up from me!

  • @SurefireWoodsman yes, sometimes you have to do that, a bent bar is better than a smashed saw.

  • In response to the description, in the first cutting, a long line (MUST BE AS LONG AS TREE IS TALL + SAFETY MARGIN!) tied as high as you can get it pulled away from the snag by a tractor or decent truck, notch, backcut, down. After first unsuccessful "cutting," chain/strap choked to the base of tree and attached to tractor/truck. Give it hell. Down. Be sure the tree doesn't stick in the ground and try to lever over and kill you when you pull on the base.

    Love the vids. True entertainment!

  • beginning*

  • Epic laugh at the end lol

  • [00:25 second mark] Must be what they mean by a "stand" of trees. : - )
