Anyone else notice that Akon's verse is the direct opposite of India's message? No wonder she wasn't happy with her duet partner (who, by the way, she didn't choose - the record company told her she needed more star power to release this as a single).

and i love India Arie for making this song

i feel at though female should be more natural and stop wearing track and be more creative with there hair because i have seen females with 1 1/2 ( short cut ( hair cut like a boy would have) and looked beautiful. and who really cares what ur hair look like if they don't see u for how u are, and the beauty that is within then u don't need them in ur life u should be comfortable with the hair u have and the skin u in no matter what color or race ur
YOU SHOULD LOVE URSELF AND THE ONES WHO LOVE U

@ChenelleAvallone We sure do, but because of this country's history with African history some of us don't like ourselves and this causes fights about our hair and skin color. it's not just the US!

@DinyZFlowerish LOL!

Just found India Arie's music and love her spirit shining thru in her songs. All women should identify with "I am not my hair." (Only beautiful has value.) We humans forget about being the soul that lives within. Love it.

Not to be rude but Black-Americans make so much of a fuss about their hair, I'm from the UK and I was shocked when I came upon the way Black-Americans feel hair is. Hair is hair. Relaxed hair is gorgeous and doesn't mean you wanna be white. Natural is good too, it doesn't mean you're uglier than anybody else!
