A film shot near the present day site of the Seaview Manor on South Street, Glace Bay. It was a farm area up until the early 1970's. There are also a few shots of the newly built Miners Museum.

  • Thanks for the memories. Was that old unburnt clunkers at the end to fill in the drive-way?? It didn't seem like they are unloading coal. I can remember people in Cape Breton loading their driveway up with unburnt coal, (and burnt (clunkers) , if that is what they were called), for traction , in the winter.

  • Hehe, that was my grandfather doing the shoveling. Knowing him it probably was "burnt clunkers" he was putting on the driveway :) Good guess and insight, thanks.

  • clinkers u mean lol from coal rite?,,,, this must be peter mullock >? ....this is russ mackinnon ...im still on south st,,,

  • Hey! Yep, it's me. In Halifax now, how have you been?

  • This looks like South Street area? Is this near to the Miners Museum? Thanks.

  • Yes, just down the road at the end of South Street. It's just a field now in back of a house next to he Seaview Manor.

  • @toxicguy101 lol u mad

  • I grew up on Duke St. Your video made me miss my hometown very very much, even though I wasn't alive when it was shot. I lived there from the mid 70s until the mid 80s. Thank you so much for posting this beautiful and eerily silent video. Very haunting and hopeful at the same time.

  • Yes it is.

  • I remember going to the new General Hospital at the end of South Street back in 1986 during its grand opening...the now-destroyed old General Hospital on Brookside Street was where I was born in.

  • anybody that says glace bay sucks sucks and its not a dump

  • That sucks

  • Are you kidding me? It's a fucking dump for the most part.

  • ohmyG, wow.
