This is my interpretation of William Henry Squire's "Danse Rustique".

With this piece I really tried to focus on achieving a good tone while retaining the dancy feel of it. The contrast of the two themes was another thing I tried to clearly portray.

I study with Laurie Cascante at the Westminster Conservatory of Music.

Please leave any comments as they are greatly appreciated.

  • Thank you for posting this - it has been extremely helpful for my own learning of this piece to hear it played so well.

  • @Hazelnut301 Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.

  • were do you play all of these things how did you get started

  • @nohemymoreno98 Many of these videos are from prior recitals and I got started back when I was in 3rd grade. Thanks for watching!

  • @nohemymoreno98 I got start just like most people playing in school, then I took on private lessons.

  • I think this video is by far the best of Danse Rustique on Youtube. Are you high school age? I'm in 8th grade and just starting this piece. It's too bad that some of the high notes are out of tune, but hey, at least you're not some 7 year old screeching it out! :)

  • @hdmgirl111 I'm happy that you enjoy it! And yes I was in high school at the time. Have fun working on the piece.

  • Ive just started Grade 6 and I have just started learning. XiFlame plays it amazingly! Keep going mate!

  • Great Job!

  • Wow really good!

  • awesome job! it really helped me learn this song!

  • Great job! But you could work on your fourth position notes. I think keeping your thumb where the neck meets the body would really help

  • Your really good! only a few notes out :) rly heplful for learning the piece myself, all the others on youtube aren't anywhere near that. what grade were you on when you played that?

  • thoughtfully and well played. thank you for posting this video. did you memorize the piece for this video?

  • Good!just a few notes were out of tune.

  • Sounds great, but in your description you say that this is your interpretation....I don't believe that there is any interpretation.....I played the exact same way in my recital

  • Nice! This was the first piece I learned that came on its own sheet music, i.e., not part of an anthology or a Suzuki book. I'm 50 years old now, and it's still one of my favorites. I like to use it as an encore.
