C. Vision Productions continues its look at Minnesota's main lines and visits the BNSF's Wayzata Sub. Often referred to as The Willmar Line, the Wayzata Sub covers 90 miles of territory from Minneapolis to Willmar.

This ex-Great Northern route runs through many different types of landscapes. From major metropolitan areas of the Twin Cities, to the rolling prairies and farm lands in central Minnesota, journey along as our cameras catch the action of freight, coal and grain trains. You'll even see spectacular motive power from other railroads including CSX, Kansas City Southern and Chicago and North Western just to name a few. Several BNSF models also take charge of trains. You won't believe your eyes when you see many trains led with SD-9's! BNSF brought out these old warriors in the summer of 2003 to operate the Willmar to Northtown freights.

C. Vision's look at the Wayzata Sub begins at Minneapolis Junction and continues into the Willmar Yard. Our crews also chase the once-weekly local that operates out of Willmar working industries eastward toward the Twin Cities.

Although this subdivision is short, it isn't short on excitement! Nearly two hours of non-stop action is captured for your enjoyment on "The Willmar Line"!

  • is willmar a nice town??i hope someone answer me!

  • Yes it is! Lots of railroad action and a great pedestrian walkway that goes over the yard.

  • I remember all of the Cadillacs! But i havent seen ONE since then. They must have returned to rest in Northtown.

  • A couple at Northtown, but the rest either stored or sold.

only illegals live there and work for the town's only employer jennie -o foods makers of filthy carcinogenic chemical ridden turky loaf, pillbury's nasty

  • I lived In Willmar from 1978 - 2000. It is a beautiful town With a lot of rail action. Amtrak use to go through Willmar ending in 1979 I think when they decided to stay with the St Cloud line from Mpls to Fargo. There is major yard there also with up to 50 to 70 train daily.

Thank for a great video and beautiful color.
