A synthesizer I made out of three Commodore 64 sound chips (SID 6581). I thought I'd really nerd it up with Game of Thrones theme music.

How it works: a computer program reads a Midi file and sends midi messages to an Arduino micro controller which in turn controls each of the three SID 6581 sound chips.

The green lights represent the register select bus, while the red lights represent the data bus. Each light represents one bit going from most significant bit to least significant bit.

The clock is controlled by a 1MHz quarts timer. The cheaper ones actually give a warmer sound because they have more variation in their timing than more expensive ones.

Like I've said to everyone else, this is what I do when I'm not off starting a new tech business and developing amazing thing that will better humanity.

Really great project! Would it be possible for you to post a WAV or other sound file of the song so we can all enjoy the full quality? And if you've done anything else with the project an update would be excellent!

Kinda sounds more like something that one would hear on a Tandy 1000 rather than from the C64 SID chip.

You honestly shouldn't even bother responding to trolls. Sounds good, watched it all because I thought using the actual tech instead of just a synth program is bad ass.

Why is everyone giving him a hard time for learning and enjoying himself? What exactly do people so that is so much better with their time? Watch TV /football? People enjoying what they do , are the people that are good at what they do and they make the world a better place.
