"Karl Denver" (Gus) wprked in the Glasgow Royal Infirmary about 1957. I used to hear him walking along the corridors singing and yodelling. We just knew him as Gus. He was terrific! Never heard anyone like him! Ricjie(Silver 1928)

@ETTOR661 No it's not actually. It's was written for a woman, besides Denver did not write or come up with this song. It's a well known pop standard.

Why would anyone leave negative comments about this very talented and successful singer? I love his music and was sad to hear he had died..Marje Morgan Wrexham UK.

@jokie3441 It was 1961 Jim, I remember my ma saying that it was awful how the people should let the man grieve for his boy. The crowd of people (fans) was huge..I was a wean myself and didn't know any better.

I was a youngster in the Karl Denver era, and most of my contempories enjoyed the music. Prositutes did not come into our enjoyment of this song. Fast forward to the present and some sad dickhead tries to show off with his percieved knowledge about rose a prostitute. My advice is piss off and leave such as me with memories of our musical age.

Its a pity that a gem like this becomes the subject of moronic comments..
Thanks lurcher it just about sums it up.

Great singer. He must have come from good Highland /Island stock with a name like Angus Murdo MacKenzie. I always thought he came from Roystonhill. He certainly resided there when I worked in that area.
This is a wonderful posting showing the talents of this nice guy.
Thank you for sharing.
