This is a model i did to practice modeling heads before i started any full character art. The beginning of the recording got scrambled for some reason, but you only miss about 5 minutes. Total Work time was about 45 minutes, sped up to about 8x speed.

Not a complete model, just practice.

Original Concept art by Daniel Garvey.

Music from "Repo! The Genetic Opera: The Offical Soundtrack"

  • What a good idea! i never thought of using a drawing for reference. : D

  • @Salivize easiest way to do it my friend! :P

  • edgeloops will vastly help with your characters, check out techniques on edge loop modeling. there are very good books on this topic. I feel like you're work would greatly benefit from proper edge loops.

  • @markycapone I totally looked into it about a month after this video! Hahaha! Definitely a great tip!

  • @Fu3r82 I find them very easy to learn and use. Just my own opinion on it. Do you know of a better one? I'd love to learn it!

  • @MysticDuder

3ds max has an AWESOME set of unwrapping tools??

  • 3ds Max is a commercial Software, so no, sadly it is not free :(

As for it being better than blender i can honestly say they are in leagues of there own.

Blender has a lot of awesome built in features (Compositing, Video Editing, Game Dev, and a whole bunch more!) But it lacks full mesh control.

    While

3ds max has an AWESOME set of unwrapping tools, some really nice mesh control (placing cuts, how things are subdivided etc) and it is awesome for all kinds of work. But, it does have limits.
