-The focus of the Canadian Seal hunt is NOT for food, its only for snobby Rich ladies clothes.

-The Newfoundland Seal hunt is Not a native hunt, its a huge industrial operation by white persons. it hurts Natives.

-The Hunt is a Financial Loss, hurting millions of poor Canadians whose pay is docked by taxes to pay for it.

-Seal Meat is contaminated with Mercury poisoning (HG), if you eat it, it causes brain damage. You cant recommend it, because you'll be hurting people, and children.

what makes thse killing awful and even more vile is that it is not natural. in the wild, predators kill prey for SURVIVAL. if we can claim to be so innovative and smart, why are these killings still happening? there are other jobs.

There is no serious problem with what they are doing, the only thing that can and should be dun is keeping the quotas at a reasonable level, don't be a soft hearted liberal, think of things objectively and not just because " omg there killing babys omg"

People Do you not understand that this "sport" is over 1/3 of the province of newfoundlands income?

Call it "inhumane" call it "disgusting" but it is necessary. People would starve to death if it wasnt for this industry. There is a ratio of 10 seals to every 1 person in newfoundland and only 400,000 seals are harvested per year so there is no chance of them going extinct from this practice. Learn BOTH sides of the story before you form your opinion.

I think Belliveau is more insane than Keddy since killing the Nova Scotian mother seals also kills the pups by torture and starvation. Who do you think is more barbaric?

1st, it is wrong on moral grounds. The ad hominens posted here are fallacious, used in lieu of evidence, facts or reason.

2nd, it is unspeakably cruel.

3rd, it is unsustainable. Twice the legal limit may have been killed in each of 3 recent years.

4th, after considering subsidies and boycotts, it is not economically viable.

5th, it hurts the Atlantic cod fisheries. Harp seals feed on squid, a predator of juvenile Atlantic cod.

Boycott Canadian seafood and raise your voices!
