The Rutt-Etra video synthesizer was co-invented by Steve Rutt & Bill Etra. It essentially was an analog computer for video raster manipulation.

Must have been the high life of video at the time. Too bad final cut can do a lot of the visuals now.

Steve Rutt passed away May 2011. This and his other great accomplishments will live beyond the great man. Go watch "Everyone Says I Love You" (Woody Allen) for more recent Rutt effects!
