Villa Italia is Downtown Schenectady's one-stop for pastries, cakes, and paninis. In the Area since the 1960's Villa Italia made the jump to downtown in 2005, one of the first businesses to take advantage of Schenectady's renaissance. Their signature taste and newly added lunch menu is a must visit for anyone in the Capital Region. So, catch a show at Proctor's and then don't miss out on Villa Italia's delicious gelato and world-class desserts. Whether it's arts or dining, Schenectady has it all!

I love the food, pastries and soup here. I work nearby and so I visit daily. HOWEVER. The staff is consistently rude, curt and unwilling to offer service pleasantly. I leave the premise daily in a bad mood because of the terrible service the employees there offer. The storefront and the food is definitely worth the visit, but I suggest for management to seriously consider changing their hiring process or training process because the service is terrible on a daily basis.

Best bakery in Upstate NY hand down, and I used to cover the entire Upstate NY area, as a salesperson.
but then again there are about ten similiar shops on Arthur Ave, in the Bronx that are just as good.
Regardless, Schenectady is lucky to have this joint, but then again many there are too dam cheap to spend money where it should be spent, and would rather spend it at Burger King or McDonalds and eat crap than eat something made with blood, sweat, and tears for a few bucks more.
