In this clip from the 2008 Royal Institution Christmas Lectures, Chris Bishop demonstrates the reliability of the laws of physics by conducting an experiment involving a heavy steel ball swinging towards his face at high speed.

You can watch the 2008 Royal Institution Christmas Lectures in full at: http://research.microsoft.com/~cmbishop or by visiting the Royal Institution web site.

There is a dedicated web site to accompany the 2008 Christmas Lectures, with ten interactive games as well as downloadable PDF instructions for experiments which can be conducted at home or at school: http://www.rigb.org/christmaslectures08

It would hit him with the strength of his breath, so it wouldn't matter much.

  • This was done in the 1991 lectures

  • If someone from the other side of theater would blow into ball when it was coming back it wouldn't be a nice scene.
