@WARPIGBK26 I agree that Gretzky is far and away the best player ever, but you can't deny that it is harder to score now than it was back then. If Gretzky played today, while he would still easily be the best in the league, he wouldn't score as many point as he was during his time.

Not only was the goalies less padded but some of the best goalies ever were from that time. Alsoyou wete allowed to hook and do soo much more then you could now wich made it harder to score!! No one will. EVER be that good again.

@T33chuLess0n for anybody who thinks Crosby has a chance of breaking Gretzky's records, you need to consider what the goalie equipment was like back then and what it is like now. Gretzky was scoring 200 pts a year but other players were scoring 130-140+ and usually at least a dozen guys had over 100. These days, nobody hits 130 and we're lucky if we have 3 guys hit 100. Goalie equipment is the main reason for this.
