  • Sorry for my English, I'm an Italian teenager... But how long did he practice before the test?? Because I will have to have this test soon....

  • 30 days (1 hour a day).

  • Only 30 days?? I'm trying to do Mae Ukemi but I can't do it.... I had practiced for 4 mounths twice hours a week

  • 30 x 1 hour a day = 30 days. The dojo/school is not open everyday so it took him for about 3 months before he took the test.

  • @thewickhamfam Agree, I was going to comment that on the ukemis as well...

  • @thewickhamfam Plus, 20 days of practice, or 30 maybe at this school, which approx. equals 3 months, that's pretty fast to be tested from starting fresh... in Jujitsu where I train and other arts, the first test isn't for at least 6 months and likewise thereafter if you've shown improvement and readiness. All in all, I think cutting him a break as far as the first test goes is in order here... he's not testing for Shodan. :)

  • @thewickhamfam If he sticks with it, I assume he'll learn more and get better... but with a USAF policy of 20 days of practice for 6th Kyu I don't expect someone to be doing everything correctly. He showed will, he showed that he had a beginner's grasp of the techniques. Flow and centering will eventually become better with time.

  • @thewickhamfam I respect constructive criticism, but I think we also have to take into consideration that this was for 6 Kyu. Mistakes and confusion are typically common at beginner levels in any martial art. For what I saw, and it being the first test, I found it to be decent for that level. He had general memorization of techniques and didn't seem to be lost at any time, for the most part.

  • I'm sorry to criticize, but isn't being centered the principal of Aikido?

  • I gotta say, maybe it's just because it's from a different dojo, and different teachings, but that didn't look good at all. your mae & ushiro ukemi didn't finalize into hanmi at all, & your feet during your right hanmi mae ukemi were backwards. While doing funakogi undo you looked as though you had no grasp of your center and could be tipped over easily. Also during your techniques you were leading with your head/upper body, and had no grasp of your center.

  • USAF Requirements are for 20 days not hours for 6th Kyu. Also, all kyu and dan ranks by USAF requirements go by days now and not hours.

  • you suck balls :|

  • I know... But I had practiced fot about 40 hours....

But nothing... Mae Ukemi is very very difficult
