Gotta repeat the others...great performance!! Love the phrasing...many times, I've heard conductors not let Walton breathe, but you do so nicely...well done!

I dream of free sheet music for this piece.

Ah, congratulations! Your fine ensemble has indeed learned the meaning of musicianship!!!!!! Best I have ever heard!

Really great style with the baton. Can we borrow your conductor for our performance?

Really great style with the baton.

A further comment: Walton was known to have said, and very amusingly, 'If there's any comparing to be done, I'd much rather be classed with Elgar than with Vaughan Williams." It certainly shows in much of his output, where he could sound English without the obsessive need to quote English folk songs from the hinterland.

The best performance on YouTube! All the others I find are ridiculously fast.
Congratulations on a fine performance which fills the need, Mr. Houze!

Exquisite! Thanks for this meal! I love the chords in the end!!!!!!
Thanks so much! I am humbled by your kind response(s). If any are in the NYC area, I will be conducting this work and others on a concert given by The Overton Wind Ensemble. Wednesday night June 16, 2010 at Carnegie Hall:

This is magnificent! Dear Mr. Houze, you have produced what is probably the best performance of this piece I've ever heard. I'm assuming that this is a symphonic band, not an orchestra. What ensemble is it? And when and where was this performed?
Bravo!

Thank you very much. You are very kind.
This performance was a May 2008 performance by the Angelo State University Wind Ensemble, of which I was conductor. The venue was the First Baptist Church of San Angelo.
The organist was Hye-Jean Choi, organ professor at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX
