Gary Burton & Pat Metheny

Si ricostituisce una complicità musicale cominciata trentaquattro anni fa. Era il 1974 quando nel quartetto del vibrafonista Gary Burton, il più importante interprete contemporaneo di questo strumento difficile e rarefatto, entrò Pat Metheny, allora chitarrista emergente, oggi star assoluta del jazz moderno. I due in realtà non si sono mai persi di vista e sono tornati a collaborare con una certa frequenza. Per Metheny è il terzo anno consecutivo all'Arena Santa Giuliana: l'anno scorso suonò in quartetto con Brad Mehldau - estemporaneo, forse inatteso incontro musicale tra due caratteri diversi - e due anni fa fece sold out con il suo trio. Burton è stato per molti anni responsabile del Berklee College Of Music di Boston, che a Perugia tiene i suoi seminari estivi: musicista di talento non meno che appassionato didatta.

@PurplePlayer99 I don't know which album Sea Journey is on, but this song is on "The New Quartet"(1970) by Gary Burton. There's a lot of good stuff with Gary on Youtube as well, Chick Corea and Gary Burton Live at the Blue Note (Monk's Dream and Mirror, Mirror), Gary Burton with Tiger Okoshi, and lots of other stuff. The best CD's I have of Gary are "New Vibes Man in Town", "Crystal Silence", and "Native Sense".
