Spinalonga Island

Spinalonga remained Venetian for half a century after the Turkish conquest of Crete and became a refuge for Christians fleeing from the Turks. Finally, in 1715, the Venetians handed over the island to the Turks by a special treaty.

In 1903, the Cretan Republic made Spinalonga a colony for the lepers of Crete, that subsequently closed in 1957.

I've finsihed the book today. It's written in a way that makes me want to see more. Great video seing the pictures makes the story more real and they make me wonder what it must have been like to take the first steps through the tunnel for the first time...

I Went To Spinalonga Wen I Was Six S 10 years ago and in one of the rooms i found a jam jar in a hole in the wall that is all i rememer about it and then visiting a mud bath and seein some kings tombs on a mountain i think if any one has also seen the jam jar let me know x
