  • In the 1916 easter rising, the I.R.A captured a lot of locations in Dublin, like the post office, in an effort to rebel against British rule in Ireland. This caused a number of casualties and led to a huge rising in nationalism in Ireland. That is what the song directly references, so it's about the horrors of all war, but its more specifically about Ireland.

  • @thenotcarebear yeh i suppose thats true enough =]

  • @EurofighterVsRaptor yes, I know, in 1916, go watch The Wind That Shakes The Barley. Im just saying that it applies to any wartime situation. its an anti war song

  • @thenotcarebear it was about the troubles in the north of Ireland

  • @PooT1909 Herbert Hoover.

  • I know the song was written about the Irish Rebellion and whatnot, but it still applies to all war.

  • well, she was around 15

  • same in our school, she had an amazing voice, the best i've ever heard :D

  • oooo esta cancion me rekuerda a ase como 10 anhos cuando yo tenia como 4 mi hermana se traumaba con esa rola y yo tmbn y la cantabamos xddd

  • The choice of your backgrounds just shows that you did not understand what the song is about and its relation to Ireland.

Very poor, especially because I always have to think of Ireland when I hear this song and then you show me backgrounds which show the American flag and something about Iraq?

What the hell has this to do with the Ireland history and all the people who died in the conflict beetween the Catholics and the Republicans?
