The Banks of the Ohio is a song made popular in the 1930s by Bill and Charlie Monroe who originally recorded this song on June 21, 1936. It has been recorded by many people since that time, including Bill and Charlie Monroe and even Olivia Newton-John. This is mainly taken from the Earl Scruggs version of the song.

  • Great job as always Tony!!! Would you please explain your strumming pattern? Also, you are playing in the key of C, but are capoed to the 2nd fret, so I assume you are actually playing in the key of D? Am I correct? Thanks! I love your lessons.

  • @THEguitartuner Yes, you are correct. I will prepare a tutorial on this in the near future. (I am working on a banjo tutorial at present). The reason I capo this up and play C chords is that I can pick out some of the tune more easily.

  • Thanks Tony! I just love you!!! :) The last time I asked you a capo question, I was wrong. I'm glad you taught me to understand the capo positioning. I am also trying to learn the banjo. I probably should pick just one or the other instrument to learn, but I love them both!

  • just found this, it's good .
