2010 Rocky Mountain Nationals Day 3 - Jet Truck Showdown (Les Shockley / Kent Shockley)

The BEST exhibition vehicles Castrol Raceway has ever had on the property since the track opened in 1992.

Shockley Racing usually does air shows, racing against an airplane or doing a full pass on the runway. If you have Microsoft's Flight Simulator X on the PC, you can actually do a mission where you race against Shockwave (with the old red & yellow paintscheme) while flying an Extra 300S stunt plane. So yeah, this is a pretty recognizable truck. I would have brought the old MicroMachines that was made of it to get it signed by Kent, but then I realized that would have been virtually impossible LMAO.

Started videoing a little late because I had about 2 minutes left of video space on the memory and was freaking out because I kept starting and stopping (it took them like five minutes to fire both trucks up and the tow vehicles to leave).

I got the run. That's what counts.

For some reason, people started clearing out of the stands before this run. I have no idea why. WHY WOULD YOU WALK AWAY FROM 35,000 HP???

Both trucks ran twice each day. They would close out the first round of Nitro Car passes by running individually, and then end the day by running side-by-side. Both trucks are capable of running 8 seconds flat in a full quarter mile. I think Kent ran an 8.20 on saturday afternoon. Not bad for a Semi with three jet engines.

Due to insurance reasons, for the side-by-side races, the trucks were only allowed to run to half track. I guess it would be pretty hard to explain to your insurance company that a Semi with three jet engines crashed into your 57 Chevy with two jet engines while drag racing at 200 MPH. :D

This was not the last pass of the event. Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, No Box, Box, and Elite 8 still had several elimination rounds to go.
