ONE MORE TIP:

I forgot to mention this in the video, but a CLARIFYING SHAMPOO works wonders. Unless the shampoo you're using is clarifying, it's helping keep your color. So when you're trying to remove brassy tones it's essential you're using this type of shampoo.

(Btw I am not getting paid to review any of these products.)

Bye guys thanks for watching.

UPDATE!: DEC 16TH 2011:

This is a link to the Goldwell color I used, AFTER I had already dyed it with Vivitone. Color is Violet. This brightened it up a lot, then I followed up with purple shampoo. I also used John Frieda's 'Go Blonder' products.

REMINDER: This is a process, especially if you have dark hair. It took me about 5 times to get from dark hair to this. Patience is key, but so worth it. :)

  • my hair is a light orange and i dont really know how to get it on to the blonde sooooooooooo can you give me a way to do it with out the bleach maybe some kind of dye then a toner and purple shampoo

  • @hherdhh The goldwell soft color I mention in this video is not a bleach, and it DID help with removing a lot of brassy tones. I loved it. I used the purple shampoo religiously, and I would also spray my hair with 50% hydrogen peroxide and 50% water and go for a run (or just go outside) This helps to give it an even lighter look. Make sure to rinse your hair after at most an hour though. Happy lightening :)

  • hey girl, i have bright red hair but i really want to get a blonde like yours, =( any tips?

  • @kittyland16 The color and developer I used, (or any other type of semi permanent color from a beauty store) will get you lighter, as well as helping to tone out brassiness. And then a toner like the goldwell I mentioned will help to take out even more brassiness. Since the red will really want to stick to your hair, it might take both products. A stylist visit is always recommended, but you can achieve my color with a couple applications, and a little patience as well. :)

  • what kind of deep conditioning do you use?

  • @eriica91 L'oreal Natures's Therapy for dry processed hair. I also put on a leave in conditioner (just a little bit) by the same brand, called mega repair recovery complex. Purchased both at my local beauty supply store. $15.99 for 16oz of the deep conditioner. $7.99 for the leave in.

  • my hair was dyed an auburn-ish hair colour and when i bleached my hair it only lifted to an orange tone >_> i tried re-bleaching it and it still won't get the orange out :/ will this stuff get the orange out???

  • hi so my hair is yellow I dyed it and its orange so the gold well soft color and shimmer will get the yellow out of my hair?

  • I put in streaks of blonde, i have naturally dark brown hair and most of it turned out a pretty color using 40 volume bleach but the largest streak up front is kinda yellow... and blotchy... do you think bleaching it again would help, or should i just go straight for the toner and blonde shampoo? also... with the 'silver' shampoo, is it safe to use on dark hair... like if i was just to wash my hair all over?

  • So i just bleach out black from my hair an its prettyyyyyy orange do you think these would work ive tried like pracrically everything an its pretty harsh on my hair so any advice ???? Thankz :)

  • your crease is to low =(

  • you kind of remind me of jessica simpson!!! in some ways! you're pretty :) thnx for the video!

  • @moazstyle bleach the orange hair to even the yellow color and then use purple shampoo and purplu conditioner

  • omg so spunky, i love it! thanks for the advice. currently, my roots are highlighter yellow, while my tips gradient to violet. this was NOT on purpose, but i suppose there are always worse results. at least the color is consistent... haha. definitely going to give that goldwell soft color stuff a go.

  • i deep conditioned every day for years! lol. i started doing it after katherine heigl told a magazine that it's how she keeps her hair really soft. haha. i haven't as much recently b/c i moved somewhere with "soft water" and have felt i don't need to as much. but i would leave conditioner on for the entire length of my shower.

random comment: your eyebrows are fantastic!

  • My roots are a lightblonde color and the rest of my hair is light orange... What should I do?
