This is how you can make your very own, custom, and FREE, ringtones on your Verizon Wireless Smartphone. This is for a Blackberry Storm2, but should be similar on other RIM phones. Droid phones may vary slightly, but should be similar. Older Windows phones are a complete cluster, and they're ridiculously picky about ringtones. If you have a Windows Mobile phone, save up for a RIM, Droid, iPhone, or wait for Verizon to get their head out of their ass and get Windows Mobile 7 phones.

Troubleshooting:

1. INSTALL DRIVERS FOR YOUR PHONE ON YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE HOOKING UP YOUR PHONE via USB cable, or you will suffer with several "fail to install drivers" messages from Windows every time you plug your phone in.

2. Please refer to the manual that came with your cell phone, paying close attention to software installing and synching your device. I do not have the resources to help users with different smart phones.

3. Occasionally, Windows 7 will still show "Drivers failed to install properly" or "Windows failed to install drivers" messages, but it shouldn't interfere with this operation provided you installed the phone's sofware first. If it does, disconnect your phone, restart the computer, let everything load, then rehook the phone up.

4. Your device's memory browser may not pop up like mine did. If that's the case, go into Computer and look for any listed drives that relate to your cellphone. Sometimes, it will show the phone's logo, the actually phone itself, etc, as the icon.

5. You can store this in device memory if you want, but I prefer putting ringtones in the phone's memory to clear any chance of memory card errors or hiccups.

6. You may not have a ringtones folder at the beginning like I did, you may have to do a little digging, such as looking in the Music, Documents, or Users folder, etc. If you don't find it, you MIGHT be able to set ringtones stored in the Music folder, but on the Storm2 it will not work, as only ringtones in the Ringtones folder are allowed for use.

7. Any additional problems, leave a comment or shoot a message, and I may be able to help, no promises though (again, I am not particularly familiar with Droid's, so Google will be your best friend in most cases).
