http://www.ondeckvideo.com An interesting clip about the civil rights movement during the 60's.

Busing, Segregation, Sit-ins and Arrests
The Civil Rights Movement received an infusion of energy when students in Greensboro, North Carolina; Nashville, Tennessee; and Atlanta, Georgia, began to "sit-in" at the lunch counters of a few of their local stores, to protest those establishments' refusal to desegregate. These protesters were encouraged to dress professionally, to sit quietly, and to occupy every other stool so that potential white sympathizers could join in. Many of these sit-ins provoked local authority figures to use brute force in physically escorting the demonstrators from the lunch facilities, others were "peaceful."

  • Gee, and you wonder why america is going broke and the chinese students run cycles around american students...

  • so much for damocrecy

  • @surambaya i would respond to that statement with extremely irrational and offensive language if only i understood what the fuck you were saying.

  • @DMJR13 - Your comment only goes to display your illiteracy, ignorance and utter lack of thought in a 21st century world where sentiments like these are not only irrelevant but laughable. This is assuming that you are actually an adult capable of actually understanding what you wrote.

  • @RavenBeastBoy ....until you find out that your great great great great great great grandfather was actually black....then you will realise how much of an ignorant twat you have been.

  • @randypagan I agree. To paraphrase Mark Twain; They know the word but not the music (that being the responsibities that go with freedom... including the responsibility of protecting the freedom of others.

  • Because I was bussed I was viewed as less alien and got the chance to have an education comparable to anglos. The benefits promoted cross-racial friendships and productive exchanges (though not without conflict). I've never experienced the zenith of fairness (few have) but I learned to see others in ways less alienating than those trapped in enforced, or chosen segregation. Come on over. We'll shoot the breeze, rag on government, look at girls... the only difference being my natural "tan".
