http://www.DrKrupka.com Have obvious "low thyroid" symptoms, but your lab results are always normal? You might be an under-converter! Watch thi video on Functional Medicine thyroid hormone management. YOU might suffer from thyroid hormone under-conversion.

  • this is exactly what i think is happening with me. All hypothyroid symptoms. tsh normal. free t4 normal (higher side) and total t3 is low (out of range)..so possible conversion issue?

  • @gheystation It sure sounds like an underconversion issue to me. You should find a good functional medicine doctor near you to help you figure this one out so you can get balanced. You can try functionalmedicine. org, I think you can search by zip code there.

  • @viper2808 I feel your pain! I have gone through 3 doctors and they all took me off the medicine "cold turkey" becasue they said my lab work indicated my thyroid was fine. I have been taking the medicine for the past 16 years and all of a sudden they say "I'm cured" except that ALL the symptoms are there! Now, my weight has skyrocketed, I'm shedding hair like crazy and so much nerve pain!!

  • Just wish British general practitioners could treat underconversion. They had me on levothyroxine for years which made me horrendously toxic. I went private and was given a life changing diagnosis of underconversion. Within days of 'T3 only' meds all the horrible symptoms had disappeared. The British guidelines state that "thyroxine is the only treatment that should be given" for hypothyroidism, all very well if you 'DO NOT' have a conversion problem.

  • @baboboi01 Yeah I FORCED MY ENDO to run a REVERSE T3 and its HIGH which means its not being used properly!!! and my ENDO wont do crap about it..

  • @gokartdudes My God! This post was a year ago. I wish it was as easy as telling your doctor that you want more tests. My experience is that whe nI requested more tests that they just laugh at me and say absolutly not. I have gone through 5 doctors already and now I have NO medicine. :-(

  • Doctor, have you ever had a male patient that took Propecia (finasteride) and had a Low T3 Syndrome?

  • Dr. Krupka, can you recommend a good funtional medicine doctor in San Jose, CA?

  • I am sure this is an interesting message, however, it is overwhelmed by the utter horrible-ness of that shirt, which vibrates madly on the screen due to the plaid, not to mention that the color doesn't suit you at all. It makes it appear that you may be color-blind! I am going to tape an index card to my screen in order to be able to concentrate on what you are saying! Please get some help on this issue before you make another video! The increase in your credibility would help everyone.

  • My Naturo Path mentioned that I may infact have some sort of conversion problem. My T4 always come back elevated, yet my T3 and TSH are always in the normal range. Not only that but my cortisal comes back elevated all of the time and my pituitary gland results come back low or high, along with other things like high FBS, cholesterol or even low testosterone. And I've lost alot of muscle, have bad skin problems, insomnia, a bit of hair loss here and there, constipation, head pressure ect ect
