SANTA CRUZ, Calif., (May 25, 2008) Coast Guard Training Center Petaluma Firefighters lend a hand to local fire departments to battle the Summit fire in the Santa Cruz mountains. The Coast Guard unit was part of the Sonoma County Strike Team which joined more than 2600 firefighters from throughout California to battle the blaze that destroyed more than 4300 acres.   • Thank God for the Coast Guard here in Pt Judith RI they have a station & lighthouse. Recently they saved when their ship went aground. Click on & see. Our summers here with tourists keep the Guard quite busy.

  • Thank you :) This is a great demonstration of how we can protect our own homes... I think in terms of clearing vast expanses but it is true, come to think of it, that cleaning gutters and built up pine needles contributes to protection as well, especially in the presence of blowing embers
