I feel a very strong nostalgia for the "futurism" of the 1970s - Apollo-Soyuz, Concorde, Gerry Anderson sci-fi series, 2000AD comic, Kraftwerk, early video games, etc.
Yes, even Tony Benn in his futurist mode...

Thanks for putting this up apparently the DVD Box Set is getting released on Sept 1st Cat No: BBCDVD2601. Let's hope so. I've got a number of his progs recorded but I'm missing loads more.

It's a sign of the BBC's current state that Meades' superbly eloquent series have never been put out on DVD, whereas Dimbleby's dumbed-down and insight-free How We Built Britain got a release just months after it appeared on TV.

I haven't seen this in years - since it was on TV in fact. Its so great to see it again, particularly as I have been unable to get hold of it on DVD. Meades' humour is so dry - he's really cutting.
