Chained pit bull mix puppy, showing large chain

Chained pit bull mix puppy. You can really see how large her chain is in comparison to her body. She can barely run around and it was 25 degrees outside when this was taken. We gave each of the two dogs at this house some fresh straw in their dog houses, which does not soak up water so it helps keep them warm. We are there with Spay Neuter Kansas City, in the Pet Assistance Program.

Well, if you read the text I provided, you would see that we did feed her, provided her with water, hay and toys. The owners are the ones who put her out there and we cannot do anything legally. It is perfectly legal to keep a dog chained 24/7 in Kansas City. They are the bastards.

I have never understood what exactly is the point of even haveing a dog if you just keep it outside on a chain. Poor thing, I don't belive god and any of his creatures to live on the end of a chain, man or beast.

@shackashackado First of all, chaining a dog in the snow is not being responsible. She is not safe from being frostbiten, poisoned or shot b/c she is chained. Being responsible is getting a tall fence or training for your dog. Being responsible is supervising your dog, or coming to the realization that you can't properly care for a dog and not getting one. Since your home isn't a barn, don't let your yard be one either.

What's the point of putting a dog on a chain larger than it is? What's the point of even having a dog if all you're going to do is chain it up outside? It might as well be a wild animal the way some people treat them.

The chain is ok, the dog doesn't seem to have a problems pulling it. And it builds muscle, although that is NOT the best way to do it. What I have a problem with is that the dog is out in the snow. Thats cruel. Pitbulls don't have much hair, and can't easily withstand the cold. The owner's of this dog need guidance and education.
