@insertpithycomment oh, well, I thought I perceived a hint of passive aggressiveness in your reply to my comment. so so so many things aren't translated very well electronically, oh the limitations of communication on the internet. but yeah, I fully understood the underlying sentiment of your comment, of course. however, when I hear people say such things, I then feel the need to say that trying to quantify art can become such a destructive ritual and it is to be avoided for the most part.

@pistraurder Look, I wasn't being abrasive, just trying to clarify my statement on youtube. I did not wish to express vitriol or truculence, merely a desire to express that all art is subjective. Haven't you ever said this is the "best" food, song, picture, day, or whatever? Don't let it sadden you when people quantify art, perhaps that is how they understand it. It's better than qualifying it. It was just a "forune cookie" statement I farted out when I heard that song.

I have no desire to pontificate or inform the world that I am well read. I posted the comment because it saddens me when people, seemingly, attempt to quantify art in some manner. I dont' really think what I wrote was all that much for youtube either. it was off the top of my head; which in my view is about all one can and should expect from comments here.

Don't take it personally, but you're comment is a little masturbatory...We get it, you've read books and want to pontificate, but youtube is not the forum. Before you get all pissed off, I'm sure this would be very erudite and prehensile on some blog.

@insertpithycomment can't really say someone is objectively the "best" in terms of an art form. art is a subjective experience. don't encourage the measurement of artistic quality, it just ends up killing the beauty of everything. artistic intelligence is something different from logical reasoning ability and intelligence, the latter can be measured, at a certain point the former really can't be quantified in any meaningful way. though, "consilience" by eo wilson offers interesting thoughts.
