Editing Huckleberry Finn is a crime against history. I will start by saying Nigger. This is not a work I would use to describe most black men. But at the time this book takes place if you said "black guy" everyone around would say "O, you mean Nigger". If you are going to edit Nigger out of this book then you must also edit NAZI and KKK out of the history books. And any other word that makes people uncomfortable. I am white and I have no guilt over slavery because I have never owned a slave.

"Nigger Jim".....there I said it. I speak in defense of Mark Twain and all the literary greats who wrote in a time when political correctness didn't stifle the originality or artistic genius of any man or woman. NewSouth Books should be blacklisted for defacing an American work of art.

I don't get it...Blacks use the word "Nigger"..."Nigga" all the time...just search "Youtube" now and view some of the videos posted by Black people.
You have to clean your OWN house before criticizing, or critiquing an Author like Mark Twain!
That was the language of the day...if people don't want their children to read the books...Don't let them. Reading either Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn will NOT create a "Racist"...but banning, or changing the wording to suit certain groups may create racism
