It's going to be up to the people to drag this government as well as the big 3 Auto manufacturers in the direction it needs to go. Businessmen of America need to unite. If we can build an electric car that will run 70mph on one battery charge all day long, and recharge it at home overnight, working class people of America will buy it. I think it's possible...look how long the mars rover lasted. We also need to expand in Solar power. Just look at what Germany is doing with Solar-why can't we?

Exactly what is he saying? As long as we are running our civilization on oil, energy security will be an impossible goal. I guess all he cares about are short term gains.. typical republican psychosis I guess.

Jimmy Carter said the same thing in a speech in 1977. The only thing that's changed since then is the price of crude.
