Sinhala Literary Association of St. Joseph's College, Colombo 10 organized a Parliamentary Debating tournament in Sinhala medium for the first time in Sri Lanka. It was held on 5th of July 2008 at the college premises.
A current issue is always the theme of the debate, and the Government and the opposition will be debating on a resolution for the respective issue. This is a new experience to the college debaters of Sri Lanka.
The event was organized by Mr.Mithila Wanasinghe, the President of the S.L.U. of S.J.C. together with his board of office bearers.

Be gracious . Don't argue. Don't interrupt and above all watch that vocal volume.

@josephperera If the members of the parliment start to learn communicate on a respectable manner then it would be less like a fish market. I think these school kids do not have to raise their voice so much. This debate still sounds like a fish market.

This is so novel. Very much different from the ones we had in the 1970s where two teams take part and wait for their turn to speak. Dayan Jayatilleke was a team leader then, and I too was fortunate enough to be part of the Sinhala Debating Team.
