Victor Mancini is a medical-school dropout who has devised an ingenious scam to pay elder care for his Alzheimer's-afflicted mother: he pretends to choke on pieces of food while dining in upscale restaurants. He then allows himself to be "saved" by fellow patrons who, feeling responsible for Victor's life, go on to send checks to support him. When he's not pulling this stunt, Victor cruises sexual addiction recovery workshops for action, visits his addled mom, and spends his days working at a colonial theme park.

@lekstute I imagined Edward norton as Tender Branson, too. I think it's because Edward Norton played the anti-social character in fight club so well.

I have seen only a bit of this movie and have never read the book. According to what most say about the movie, am I right in saying that the book is 10x better and that I should read that before watching the entire movie?

anyone who has read the book and is a fan of chucks could probably agree that they killed the story, the best part of it is how in the last 2 chapters everything falls apart in a way that makes sense, the ending of the movie sucked! they left out sooo many key points i mean c'mon i wanted to see him get stoned at the end. only thing good about this movie is the casting of Victor, Page sucked she was too monotone.

It wasn't horrible except they left out my favorite part about how the rocks were filling up the house like an hourglass. It would have been better if it had been longer, they didn't let it develop enough.

I just watched this, I had such low expectations that I was actually impressed.

Damn, I was going to watch this, but it looks so disappointing. The characters are all wrong. Not like I envisioned at all.

honestly, the portrayal of Victor's mom is one of the worst i've ever seen. I'll probably have to see this, but it's not gonna be anywhere as good as the book
