Last month's nannies pulled a modern-day Footloose by banning singing, dancing and rapping at new bars and restaurants—in Snoop Dog's hometown, no less!

But what about this month?

Check out who's pulling the plug on electric bingo machines (sorry charity fundraisers) and who won't let pet stores sell dogs and cats (seriously?).

But the Nanny of the Month goes to the heartland pol who's waging a very real war on fake pot (A.K.A. spice, K2, genie, black mamba, bliss, dragon, Bombay Blue ...) Ladies and gentlemen, we present Reason.tv's Nanny of the Month for February 2010: Kansas State Rep. Robert Olson!

"

Nanny of the Month" is written and produced by Ted Balaker. Associate Producers are Alex Manning and Paul Detrick. Animation by Meredith Bragg.

  • "thus give pleasure to pedophiles"

God forbid we let pedos have pleasure especially through something that doesn't involve actual children! Also I doubt a small boob fetish instantly makes someone a pedo, if you really wanted to stretch it you could say the same thing for people with no pubic hair.

It bewilders me to no end when the reason for banning things become 'pedos may jack off to that'. So what, who does that harm? We trying to legislate thought crime now?

  • Pot is apparently illegal to prevent an army of Obamabots taking over the country... Sadly, it hasn't worked. Instead I propose to legalize pot and deem government schools a form of child abuse and be outlawed.

  • yo Olson thanks for nothing asshole I hope you lose the next election you fucking prick!!!

  • @ZM7241994 Well, stopping smoking it was my own choice. It had nothing to do with the 'risks', I just grew up. I wouldn't put people in jail who indulge, young people as i did, it'd be hypocritical. People do have problems, and correcting those problems should be up to doctors, not the strong arm of the law. As for your concern with other drugs, the same ideal applies. Look. We already have laws against other types of crimes drugs supposedly cause. Making drugs illegal doesn't stop users.

  • @s0beit I'm glad you're aware of the risks of marijuana use and that you stopped smoking it. My fear is once the legaliaze marijuana(a dangerous drug by itself) that they will legalize far worse drugs such as cocaince, heroin, etc which are extremely dangerous and addictive. Now, I've heard people say that they are dangerous but people should make their own decisions because it's their body. The reason why certain drugs are illegal is bc they affect much more then the user.

  • @ZM7241994 I never said it was harmless, not even once. I just don't care whether or not it's harmless. It isn't the state's position to ban things because they're harmful to you, people can make their own informed decisions. I used to smoke pot, I don't anymore, not for years now, but I know the effects from making marijuana (AND other drugs) illegal are far worse than just letting people go on with their own decisions. Sure they need help, but jail and shoot-out drug wars isn't the cure.

  • @s0beit I suggest you do some research into issues before ruling one way or another. I'm not a doctor, but I do know that marijuana isn't harmless as some people(most of them marijuana addicts) claim it is. You should at sites that have an opposing viewpoint that way you get both sides of the story, not just one side. Though, you're correct that outlawing certain things does cause deaths but I believe it's necessary. I know people who smoke marijuana and they aren't the same anymore.

  • @ZM7241994 What in the hell are you talking about? What hard facts? Hard fact: Prohibition causes violent crime and thousands of deaths in Mexico, the innocent and guilty alike. Hard fact 2: Prohibition puts peaceful people in prison, people who haven't committed any other "crime" than smoking marijuana, which in and of itself has no victims. Hard fact 3: The government has no right to decide for me or others what i do with my body.

    - Not a pot smoker

  • @s0beit The ban of real pot is based on facts. It's one of the few issues that I agree with the Feds on.

  • @ZM7241994 what? lol

  • @Karth420 The ban of real pot is based on hard facts.

  • Never heard of it......

    but now i want some!

Thanks Kansas State Rep. Robert Olson.
