  • Yes, I suppose defending strikes is much easier, but to take you down is simple in that position. Very difficult sprawl.

  • Ok i dont advocate sprawl as you dont know if the attacker has a knife so sprawl is suicide. I think if you train in this manner you will also realize how hard it is to take the guy down giving him time to strike you with many techs .. its street not sport dont mix the 2

  • Whats up with your website Mr Miller, it seems to be down. Cheers!

  • In a nut shell i thought i ought the rights to the site name but turns out the guy who hosted it for me bought it himself then tried to shaft me. Sorry i should remove the vids from youtube realy.

  • you assume too much here. this works fine assuming that there exists the proper distance, so all hits will have to come straight on. this assumes that you can keep the distance and more importantly it assumes that there is space to move.

if this assumption fails, then the whole defence comes undone. you cant afford having someone in your face and standing sideways. one try should be enough to convience you.

spar with a boxer in restricted space and post the results.

  • I dont disagree, but in kali theres a thing called square stance. Were both fit are parallel or, in standard fighting stance, the body is facing forward. This is cuz in FMA, you need to use both your hands together, and that both hands have equal distance to that target.... has its disadvantages, but it is another way.... but this is primarily since FMA is weapon based and not sport oriented I suppose,,,

  • @jmc2424 Actually a good fighter who knows his/her footwork makes a take down more difficult even in this position. Footwork is KEY. Unfortunately many martial artists out there have forgotten this basic truth!

  • Circle quickly to his left and hook to his head, roundhouse kick to his kidney!

  • No need to apologize! the videos are very good, direct and no nonsense. You are very enjoyable to watch. I hope you leave these vids up, and continue to make more. Good luck!

  • This is just good, basic common sense. It's your standard boxing stance, and there's a good reason boxers use this stance--exactly the reason Mark says, to minimize your target area and cover vital areas. I can't believe there are people coming here arguing otherwise.
