Can we have a video of Old Pete starting it with the handle now please! ;-)

I'm sure the smell is heavenly, but positively not good for you. But there's nothing like a diesel smell on a start up. Just don't inhale!
-
Thank god you didn't have to use the starting handle.
We've a few old vehicles up in the yard, and that's a common sound in our yard - cranking over Leyland, Perkins, Bedford and Gardner engines in old lorries and buses. Once you aren't overheating the starter there's no harm in it. A bit of hot air down the air in take (hair dryer or heat gun) will ease the pain and stop her from becoming a drug addict!

i wouldnt bother about the smoke injectors might be overfueling slightly but after a run will be fine

good old aki take there time but usualy the start

Holy cow! She's a smokey one aint she!
-
- 4 that's more than impressive! She looks smashing too. Thank you

so you primed it before starting, did you prime it too much that its already flooding, so didnt fire up straight away?
-
Don't burn out the starter by cranking too long.
it has always smoked bad on start up
give it a run down the road and it will clear after a couple of miles
i think its over fueling on tick over you get raw fuel in the exhaust
will have it started over xmas i will take a new video of the raw fuel leaking from exhaust
