The truth about raw almonds

In response to my wonderful viewers who have asked me why fresh almond milk isn't working...I am so sad to say that the rumors are true. Almonds that are sold as raw almonds in Whole Foods and other health food store aren't actually raw. They have been flash pasteurized. It is said this is from a salmonella scare, which I do appreciate being remedied. However I haven't been able to make almond milk in like a year, and I think it should be illegal to sell almonds as raw, especially for like $21.99/lb, when they aren't raw. A raw nut can be sprouted. I've called organic almond farms in california and they all say the same thing, it is mandatory to flash pasteurize the almonds. This kills the almond, so that is why it gets sour when soaked instead of sprouting. Anybody know where to get truly raw almonds? Darren Buttler talks about growing your own. Watch and learn more. There are self-fertile almond varieties.

I won't even feed them to the squirrels in my garden. If something is toxic in small amounts it's best avoided in any amounts.

You can get truly raw almonds from Organic Pastures (McAfee Farms) in Fresno. You can find their youtube video by searching -- Truly RAW almonds.

Luckily here in Boulder, CO my local health food store imports raw almonds from Spain. They are more expensive but at least they are actually raw.

Best thing to do is go straight to the source: grower. That is pretty easy to do. Get a couple friends together: ROAD TRIP!!! Get a van and you and your best buddies can drive to "God's Country"! You are allowed to buy up to 100 pounds per day per person, direct from the grower. Hmmm, wonder where you can find a grower? hmmmmm......
