@BigKatz The song has to do with a girl in Texas......You must be Northern who equate everything to a war you know much nothing about. I think you need to learn that the Union flag enslaved more people longer and wider, including all Northern states than the Confederate flag. Too bad, after 149 years after a war the North fought and won, they are still ignorant about why they fought it..It wasn't about slavery. Now back to this beautiful old song of Texas, which was once a Republic!

@billythedoggie Amen Billy. Texas should never have agreed to be anything less than a nation. Long live the Repubic of Texas!

I love how this song is being sung by total Yankees. Not a drop of Texas in any of them.

How corny it seems now -- the dancing, the costumes... but I watched Your Hit Parade when I was a girl -- in grade school. No videos then, only Hit Parade, Dick Clark show, and similar TV venues to hear the hit music and see some of the singers. We all swooned over Tommy Leonetti on the Hit Parade.

Thankyou for this footage from "Your Hit Parade", a tv program I only heard about. I was checking things out but couldn't find anything that would fill in the missing pieces. First of all, what year was this particular episode from and two, is this the ever so popular Mitch Miller's version? Sounds like it, it's just that I'm sure. It's Mitch's version that is the most memorable up here in Canada'sGreat White North, Vancouver, in Canada's evergreen playground. thx4 postin'

Whiitn years of 1963 to 2010 there were 3 men of Texas as The President.Johson(Vietnam)G.Bus
h (KuWai)t.and George W bush whole world. But,The Yellow Rose of Texas is one of The Best on this globe
When I was a child in the 50's we used to sing these words to this song. "Oh the yellow rose of Texas, & the man from Laramie, invited Davy Crockett to have a cup of tea, the tea was so delicious, they had another cup, & then they left poor Davy, to do the washing up!!!" I think we were only about 7 or 8 years old at the time.
