I was thinking about picking up a used a700 (currently have a350), but I'm really liking the HDR feature. AND 7fps? WOW! I need this for the sports stuff I shoot. I might have to save up a little more for it tho
Of course one should care more about lenses than body concerning image quality .. But I got the lenses, I've invested in the finest lenses in the sony range and now I'm just trying to figure out which body to choose as a replacement for the a300 .. I don't wanna go FF, simply because I don't have the money to pay for the a900 and I wouldn't go for the lesser a850 ...
My main use is nature/wild life and documentary (conflicts, riots, poverty etc.)
I will go for a550, magnesium body is nice but it's more about quality comfort, my plastic a300 have been through alot without no problems at all. I think live view and alot of new features makes this a good choice. And it's not an entry level! (a230, 330 is)
Thanks for your advise :) .. Though I think I am going to wait to make a final decision until a full detailed review has been posted somewhere like dpreview :]

@QuaZDK
if you use Live View the 550 is almost choosen^^
Best working LV of all brands with it dual mode of 2nd sensor quick AF and main sensor full detail but manual Focus.
The A700 has the better optical viewfinder.
Also the body is bigger what most people say feels better and it's button placement is more useful.
As well as the quicker settings flow.
If you often change the settings, this is better than the A550 menu structure.
For image quality one shld care more about lenses than body...

So far this has one of the best HIGH ISO noise reducer qualities.

Go for the A700. The built quality is much better ( magnesium vs plastic) and the viewfinder is bigger.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
a500/a550 is still entry-level... in my opinion, a700 is better proposition for a change from a300.

Hm! .. I don't know if I should go for this one (A550) or stay with my initial choice (A700) as a replacement for my current A300 ...
