It's Marcus Aurelius Antoninus... and Elagabalus was the first in the West to make December 25th a holiday... the Feast of the Unconquered Sun. The Roman Emperor Aurelian, "The Restorer of the World", passed through Syria during his re-establishment of the Empire in 270 and became a follower of El-Gabal and he promoted the worship of the Unconquered Sun as Emperor. Diocletian was also a sun worshipper as was Constantine before he became a Christian.
Elagabalus followed Macrinus who followed Caracalla and he ruled from 218-22. Elagabalus was promoted as emperor through the claim that he was the son of Caracalla and his cousin, but this was a means for Septimius Severus' empress's family to return to power. Severus married Julia Domna when a soothsayer claimed that he who marries her will become a king. Sure enough, he seized the Empire heading some legions in 193. Domna's father was the High Priest of the sun god El-Gabal.
great video, i find Elagabalus to be the most fascinating Roman Emperor and am ordering the historical fiction book about him called "Child Of The Sun" from Amazon. thanks for posting this!!!!!!! :)

Thumbs up if you're here after reading Lychee Light Club by Usumaru Furuya where Zera/Tsunekawa compares himself to Elagabalus.
