This is a Yushu Earthquake memorial song, written by Tashi Palden and composed and performed by Amalia. I encourage anyone viewing this video to find out how they can support ongoing quake relief for the people of Jyekundo, Yushu, Tibet. My friends in Tibet recommend the Tibetan Village Project www.tibetanvillageproject.org/ as a good and reliable organization that is getting aid to those who need it, but there are plenty of good organizations!
Thousands of people died in this quake and more than 90% of homes were destroyed. Your help is needed.
*note!* Two spelling errors were made during the editting process. We hope to get them fixed, but it could take a while. Correct spelling is below. The fault lies entirely with us on the editing side! The writer's spelling is impeccable!
A prayer to dispel suffering
The earthquake in Kham Jyekundo
Thousands of peoples minds and bodies separated.
May these people who have died and gone on to the next life
Find the beginning of the path to liberation.
All of their possessions and homes destroyed by this earthquake,
Even their bodies broken and torn apart by the stones and cement.
Overcome with fear they slipped into unconsciousness.
All Gods and Lamas, please help them.
This earthquake, caused by unbalanced outer elements,
Killed many sentient beings, separating them from those who survived.
The survivors are filled with sadness and weakness.
May the sufferings of the living be dispelled.
Arms and legs destroyed by this earthquake,
Many have become orphans who lost their families.
For those who are hopeless and weak,
Please, people of the world help them.

Amalia you are amazing. Thank you for being such a wonderful performer of Tibetan music!! It is a real tribute to Tibetan culture, when someone puts their whole heart into learning it. You are awesome, girl.
