Star Spangled banner sung by Alina Smith ( http://www.AlinaSmith.net )

R&B singer Alina Smith, born and raised in Russia, is singing The American National Anthem "The Star Spangled Banner" in hopes to bridge the two great nations that have a long history of mutual animosity.

Alina says:

"I chose to love this country [the US], as well as I love Russia, and I feel good about my decision. I know there is a lot of tension between the two countries right now because of the conflict in Georgia, and it really saddens me because politics seemingly have no correlation to the way most real Russian and American people feel about each other. I have met plenty of both, and I have never seen any single person expressing any of the nationalistic hostility we see on TV. I really hope that some day there will be peace and understanding between my favorite two countries (and others!). Some day..."

  • @kaczerm NO, that is NOT how all americans sing it, it sounds like complete dog shit when people add in voice influctions and personal changes to it. That is NOT different than just flat out changing the words to the national anthem, it is NOT just a song, it is meant to mean a lot more than that. That is why she SUCKS at singing it.

  • @al2683 what? altered? thats how all the americans sing it.

  • That was amazing good singing voice

  • good job!

  • @Warbirdguy1 no hablas asi de me paíz

  • @Warbirdguy1 al2683 has the right to say what he wants and theres nothing u can do about that and theres he can do about wat u say either its ur opionon and his you may not agree with his opionon but that whats he thinks

  • Then sing something else... as a veteran of the Iraq war it offends me and it should offend anyone who hears the national anthem butchered like this. If you want to sing the anthem, sing it right.

Oh, and she can sing it however she wants, but you are right, this is the USA, and I have the right to state that it sounds like shit.

  • @al2683 These veterans feel it is good because it is a way people show their love for their county by being creative and artistic about the country they love. So totalitarian ultra-nationalism has no place in society, I am a true American and love what it stands for, so now I am making my own revision to express my love for our amazing country. In Soviet Russia its not possible to do so therefore I will take advantage of our nations constitution.

  • @al2683 hehe I am actualy a hardcore conservative lol. So you see the beauty of the United States and the free world is the first amendment if you havent heard of that before (bty I love the 2nd to defend it!) in the Communist Soviet Russia or facist Argentinia you cant alter the anthem, why, because it is a totalitarian governemnt. A persoanal experence with Anthem altering, there are several U.S. military members who find it good that people revise the anthem 1/2
