You didn't give any results as to which ball was better.

you couldn't do a blind test because of the color of the football. You might be able to do it with a wilso 1001/1005 and a nike though. I've found that the 1001's are okay, but the 1005's just have no pop. The GSTs aren't so bad for punting, because they were designed to have tight spirals, but for kicking they're really stiff. The Nike balls very too. Aero Elites are okay, but i personally like the feel of the 3005's better. I like the feel off my foot more with it. Just my 2 cents!

James -- very interesting! To what extent do you think wind may have had on any particular (FG) kick?
I'm sure some will continue to have doubts. Do you think it's possible to have more of a "blind" test? If the ball logos could be somehow hidden so that you wouldn't know which one you're kicking until afterwards? That would seem to eliminate any lingering doubts.
Thanks for bringing this to light! GO VOLS!
I think you make some very valid observations. I disagree about the Wilson 1005 football. I think that it is a pretty decent ball in relation to the Wilson GST. The GST is fine for punting but is very stiff for kicking.
The best kicking ball on the market is the Nike 3005 Collegiate Football. It "springs" off your foot and is a big advantage in relation to the Wilson GST.
I think it would be a great segment for Sports Science on ESPN!
