Burning Heretical Books

This practice is biblical, see Acts 19:19.
Some friends of mine and I got together to have a good o'l fashioned book burning. We brought our own books that represented different aspects of our past and we decided to once and for all rid the world of the intellectual disease, slavery and heresy embodied in these books. These books could have been recycled, but they could have gotten into the wrong hands. It was all in good fun... but seriously, some of these books needed to be burned. The errors contained in them will cause people to lose their souls and end up burning just like them... only for much longer....

Some noteworthy books that say their end this night are -

Various New Age Books - including a Tai Chi book that emphasizes transcendental meditation ... a known recipe for demonic possession. Many other new age titles. I don't remember all of them.

Various useless pop culture self help books - These books have a tendency to cause people to trust too much in themselves and their own power, ignoring their utter dependence on God and the power of prayer.

At least one history book from college, one which denied the historicity of the Catholic Church.


The Purpose Driven Life:There are good things in this book, but we've decided that it ultimatly does more harm than good. It does not point souls in the direction of the Catholic church and so, this book made it into our pile of burning books... it represented for us all, our struggle with and through the different Evangelical Christian Denominations and protestantism in general. We are grateful that the grace of God had delivered us from these sects and into the true Church, the Catholic Church.

The New American Bible - this book seemed to represent the epitome of one of the greatest plagues affecting mankind- counterfeit Catholicism. It was burned not necessarily because the translation was horrible, but because of the commentary was completely modernist - in some cases denying the reality of the miracles of Christ and the authorship of the apostles.. Beware of the NAB's commentary, although the translation could be better, the real culprit here is the commentary. - the commentary in this bible renders the bishop's stamp of approval on the inside cover into an embarrassing shame.

etc..... Good riddance!!! more room for orthodox books in our libraries now.

I hope you burned John Calvin's literature. That's some REAL soul-destroying heresy! I used to belong to that purely evil sect. Thank God he rescued me from protestantism!

Oh, how sweet it is to see the New American Bible (NAB) given the treatment that it deserves! The translation (rather paraphrase, for that`s what it really is») betrays the meaning of God`s texts, and the notes are scandalous! It is repulsive that such a "Bible" ever was approved for public use in the Church. Even worse, it displaced the full Confraternity Version (1969), which had just been completed, and with something as putrid as the NAB! Burn it, dudes, burn it!

Fair enough. And chuck in some of that protestant nonsense too - how can they claim to be the true Church when they've only been around for a few hundred years.! And maybe those heretical Roman Catholic books that mislead well intentioned seekers of God away from the truth. And then do a native American tribal dance around the lot.
