where did you put the battery for the active pickup? did u put in a coumpartment for the battery, or do u keep it behind the electronics cover.

Thanks - i forgot to mention that. I insulated the battery & squeezed it between the vol & tone pot. The smaller pot for the active vol created a little more space but the 9V + wires raise the plate by .5 millimeter. It won't need to be changed more than 1 or 2 times a year & i didn't want to do any router cuts, so....

would adding an active EQ, help the out put of the neck pick up keep up with the out put of the bridge.

No, they would both get louder. It can be evened out by adjusting the pickup height, but that affects the attack. It's not really a problem.
